About this guide
About the Ledger Desk
The Ledger Desk is the collective name under which Whose Room is written and signed, not a person. It keeps a dated record of who runs the sixteen casinos in this guide, across three areas of British Columbia.
By the Ledger Desk · Checked October 7 and 8, 2026
Why trace owners
Every casino in this guide works under BCLC, which manages commercial gambling for the provincial government. That holds at Parq Casino, RimRock Casino and Cascades Casino Penticton alike.
The companies behind those floors are a different matter. Since January 2025, four casinos in this guide have passed to First Nations ownership. Casino Nanaimo and Elements Casino Victoria changed hands on January 16, 2025. Great Canadian Casino Vancouver followed on May 5, 2026, and River Rock Casino Resort on June 16, 2026. Hastings Casino and Elements Casino Surrey are under agreements of sale to First Nations.
Whose Room follows those changes room by room, with dates. Every page is signed by the Ledger Desk as a group, and none bears the byline of an individual.
How the record is checked
Every fact on this site went through a check over two days, October 7 and 8, 2026. Each source is dated: the casinos' own pages, news releases from the operators and owners, and provincial sources.
In British Columbia, BCLC conducts and manages casino gambling, and private service providers run the casinos. On this site, "runs" names the company that operates a casino. "Owns" appears only where an owner or a sale is published.
Where a casino's pages give different figures, the guide says so and leaves the figure out. Where no owner is published, the guide says that and names no one, as with Parq Casino.
Where the pictures come from
Landscape scenes on the area pages and home page cards come from an image generator and show no casino. Most casino pictures are freely licensed photographs from Wikimedia Commons and Flickr: Parq, Hastings, Elements Casino Surrey, and River Rock with its marina and casino floor. Credit lines give author, licence, year and any change, such as cropping or removed parked cars. Cascades Casino Langley's picture is a generated photo-like scene after a real photograph of its hotel's banquet room, with no credit line. The Image sources list names each photo; the Ledger Desk, which took none of the pictures, drew the maps from public outlines.
