This guide covers three casinos on Vancouver Island: Casino Nanaimo, Elements Casino Victoria in View Royal and RimRock Casino in Port Alberni. Petroglyph Development Group owns and runs the first two, RimRock's pages name no operating company, and the graph below sets out each room by year.

Two rooms changed hands
All three casinos fall in WorkBC's Vancouver Island/Coast region, which includes Nanaimo and Victoria, the provincial capital. Two of them changed hands on January 16, 2025, when Petroglyph Development Group closed its purchase of Casino Nanaimo and Elements Casino Victoria from Great Canadian.
Each sale was announced separately: Casino Nanaimo on June 24, 2024, and Elements Casino Victoria on September 10, 2024. Land associated with the Nanaimo casino was to be returned to Snuneymuxw on closing, as part of the Snuneymuxw xwsol'lexwel village. Great Canadian was to provide transition services for up to two years at both. Snuneymuxw First Nation is the sole shareholder of Petroglyph, which serves as the Nation's economic development arm. In the company's own phrasing, all profits are sent "back to the Nation".
Petroglyph runs both casinos through Lahal Casino Management LP, its casino management arm. RimRock Casino says it is governed by BCLC policies under IGCO oversight. Its pages name no operating company, and it is not on Gateway's list of properties.

What stays the same
Ownership does not change the floor rules. BCLC conducts the games in all three. Admission is for adults aged 19 and up, and every guest presents government-issued photo ID. Guests between 19 and 25 at Elements Casino Victoria must also present a second valid piece of ID.
Casino Nanaimo keeps Pacific time. From Sunday through Thursday its doors stay open from 10 AM until 1 AM, and Friday and Saturday hours run from 10 AM until 2 AM. Elements Casino Victoria opens at 9 AM and closes at 2 AM Sunday to Thursday, 4 AM on Friday and Saturday. RimRock Casino keeps two schedules: Sunday through Thursday it operates from 11 AM until 11 PM, and on Friday and Saturday the hours stretch from 11 AM until midnight.
