Privacy at Whose Room
Whose Room counts visits without cookies, and a separate statistics service sees each reader's IP address and browser, along with where the visit came from. A reader's theme choice stays in the open browser tab until that tab is closed.

What stays in the browser
The site asks readers for nothing. There are no forms on it, no accounts and no email address. No field waits to be filled in, and no message can be sent. Nothing a reader writes reaches the Ledger Desk, because the site offers nowhere to write it.
A theme choice is the one thing kept. It stays in the open browser tab, on the reader's own device. Closing the tab clears it, and the next visit starts without it.
What the site does not load
All files, fonts and scripts load from this site. Each page view is counted with no cookie, and a separate tally service is told which page was read. Type is set from the site's own files, and visits are counted by the site's own server, which then passes the count details on to the statistics service. The browser contacts no outside party when a page opens, though the statistics service does receive the visit details from the site's server.
A graph on the site links owners to rooms by year. It is drawn in the reader's browser, from the page itself, with no outside code. Clicking or hovering on it sends nothing back to the site or anyone else.

Does Whose Room use tracking cookies?
No outside trackers are loaded on any page of Whose Room. The site has no accounts and no forms, and it loads no outside scripts or fonts either.
Is anything sent when the graph is used?
Nothing is sent by using it. The graph is drawn in the reader's browser from the page itself. Its data comes with the page, so no request goes out when a reader explores it.
How long does the theme choice last?
It lasts until the open browser tab is closed. A later visit in a new tab starts without it. No account or email address carries the choice from one visit to the next.
